e-merge_a filmmaking mediascape by artist Jackie Calderwood was commissioned for the innovation programme of Birds Eye View film festival 2009 at the ICA. It is funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council……From 7-13 March visitors took the mediascape & equipment (PDA, headphones) for a walk in St James's Park, creating unique short films just by exploring the park. ….. 3 women composers and musicians created music for the piece – these form the soundtrack to the walk and arising film. Walkers can meander in any direction for any duration – co-creating their film through their choices. …..These films, and traces of the walks, are now visible on the e-merge website as a celebration of the diversity of the individual experience within the collective piece. …..Further e-merge events in the park are planned for May/June – for individuals and pre-booked groups. …..Register your interest through the website. …..The project also features educational workshops for secondary students, with a re-mapping of central London sites to Weston-super-Mare. …..There is more information on the background of e-merge and what to expect, at http://tiny.cc/fpYJ8
