Students will complete a small still life composition in oils, using the sight-size technique whereby the image and subject are placed side-by-side at a distance in order to perceive the whole. The origins of this method stretch back to the seventeenth century and it was employed in one form or another by masters such as Van Dyck, Velazquez, Reynolds, Lawrence and Sargent. Due to the nature of the technique, students are required to paint whilst standing. Comprehensive one-to-one tuition will be offered throughout. Suitable for students of all abilities. Hand stretched linen canvas included.
