Cenezoic 2019
A public art installation by Mark Antony Haden Ford and Rebecca Ford, situated on the wall of Arundel Castle in West Sussex. Based on recent discoveries that date cave paintings and hand stencils by ‘hominids‘ back 52,000 years, the work is 5m in diameter, made from willow and yellow pigment, and pays homage ‘to our ancient ancestors’. Positioned as an ‘ephemeral piece’ in contrast to the lasting legacy of cave paintings, the installation acknowledges all that is ‘created and lost’.

Norwich Makers Market
A makers market taking place during The Assembly House Summer Garden Party in Norwich. The market will host a range of designer-makers, printmakers, ceramicists and jewellers – all of whom present work for sale alongside vegan cakes, pastries and other refreshments. a-n member Laura Andrews will be present, showcasing her hand-painted botanical artwork.

Sierra Tango Foxtrot
A site-responsive sound installation by Cambridge-based American artist Anna Brownsted in the ‘atmospheric tunnels’ of Landguard Fort near Felixstowe, Suffolk. Brownsted has transformed adjoining rooms within the fort, weaving together a ‘collaged meditative soundscape’ that explores how time expands, contracts and ‘circles in on itself’. The work also spans socio-political histories, using the architecture of the fort to look deeper at familial military connections. The artwork is part of Pier Projects’ current Viewpoints programme.

JAM
A weekend of artist events taking place around St George’s Quay in Lancaster, presented by GRAFT with Lancaster Maritime Museum. Free and open to all, the events include tiled artwork by Bonnie Craig inspired by the city’s maritime history, a cyanotype printing workshop with Theo Vass, a flag-making workshop from Shonagh Short and an ‘unexpected performance’ by Kathryn Tovey.

Make print great again
A group exhibition of printmaking by eight artists based in the North East of England. ‘Make print great again’ brings together the work of Alfons Bytautas, Theresa Easton, …grafik 2.1, Johnnyx, Erika Servin, George William Stewart, Jade Sweeting and Lee Turner – all of whom look through multiple lenses of reference to ‘challenge techniques and possibilities of printmaking’ as well as its ‘position within contemporary art’.
