Simon Starling, ‘Blue Boat Black’, Charcoal, posters, photographs, tools, fishing tackle, cool box, table top, aluminium trestles…, 1997. Courtesy: (Image from ‘Cuttings’ exhibition catelogue, 2005). A comment on unsustainability, Starling made a small fishing boat out of a disused museum display cabinet shipped from Scotland to France. He then used it to catch fish, the boat was then transformd again into charcoal so he could cook the fish. Finishing with all the remains being displayed back in a museum.
