Louise Grant, ‘Untitled’, 2010. My work joins interests in texture, monochrome and surface. Adding multiple layers of texture to a plain canvas and painting across in a none descript way, helping to create a further interest in using paint materials that clash and traditionally are not used together. The surface of the painting is of interest to push against what the usual crisp, flat, perfect surface of a monochrome painting does. Layering glazing or resins materials over the canvas once it has been painted begins to both engage the viewer further into the textural paint and pushes them away from the texture. Combining certain elements of these ideas together within an individual painting allow the elements to enhance what the other are doing.http://louisegrantart.blogspot.com/
