Sally Newham and Sally Lemsford, 2 socially engaged artists, are taking a mobile fantasy museum around Derbyshire, setting off on Monday 5 September. They will travel by bike, towing a trailer containing the museum and unpacking it as they encounter people. Who knows how this will evolve? Who knows what stories will be told? They might stop at villages, rural markets, car parks, mobile libraries or other gathering places or maybe just where they meet people en route. It is education in its broadest sense; it is taking exciting contemporary art to isolated parts of the county to people who may not readily encounter or participate in contemporary art. It’s giving people a space to think about what their heritage is and what they want to retain. Watch out for them in your own locality. You will be able to spot them easily in their bright red costumes. If you would like to know more about the project email: [email protected] or follow them on http://2sally4th.blogspot.com/
