A five-day course in laser cutting for printmaking techniques. Laser cutting and etching offers a new way to approach printmaking. Designs and drawings can be rapidly and precisely cut into acrylic plates using a computer guided laser beam. Course includes: preparing drawings for laser cutting; laser cutter operation and file preparation; acrylic plate inking and proofing on a traditional etching press. Exploration of etching techniques: including linear and laser aquatint etching, embossing techniques and hybrid manual and laser worked plates. Suitable for all experience levels. Beginners welcome. The small group format allows opportunity for one-to-one attention tailored to suit individual experience levels and creative aims, alongside group tuition and demonstrations. No computer experience necessary – technical support provided. Tutor: Angie Sparke is an artist with 15 years experience in teaching and research in Higher Education. Angie gained her BA (Hons.) at Glasgow School of Art and was awarded a PhD by the Royal College of Art.
