My work, Parallels and Meridians – Beyond the Boundaries, is on show in the window of the main Maritime Mix offices as part of the cultural Olympiad. This work is created from a GPS recording of a walk I took on Portland. Using a set of parameters I have devised my longitude and latitude data is turned into a series of ever changing lines. With reference to Paul Klee’s “take a line for a walk”, I utilise GPS recorded walks to capture the landscape scientifically and then present this captured data in new ways. This work references the tradition of landscape painting and drawing, and is rendered as a moving image.
