Private view, Thursday 25 April 2013, 7-9pm Exhibition open Friday 26 – Sunday 28 12-4pm Thereafter open by appointment until Friday 3 May ‘Yes, we are close to Lidl’ presents new work (and goodbye votives) amidst the studio setting and in close proximity to Lidl. 11D Murieston Lane is at a positive state of change as studio holders reach new points of departure in their work and practice. The exhibition brings together new artworks produced in mind of existing preoccupations with photography, film, diorama, sculpture and painting. It is also a possible beginning for more shows that will test the studio’s viability as a joint gallery space. The exhibition also looks to expose the convenience of a studio in terms of its proximity to other amenities such as bus routes; supermarkets; electrical stores; charity shops. Common pluses in the list of an artist’s ‘must haves’ when approaching the material of their work and indeed the role, and apparent commodity, of a studio in current visual art practice. After structured opening hours the exhibition will be open by appointment.
