Contemporary Construction 1 is an experimental art enterprise set up by Silvia Champion, Chris Graham, Lizzy Levy and Katya Robin, four Sheffield based artists, all in their final year MA Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University.
During the CC1 event they will be making ambitious site-specific work that relates to the white gallery space, the black clubroom and the inter-connecting courtyard.
They are working to the constraints of black and white with grey materials. It will be an exploration of wonderful oddments ranging from the pragmatic, the discarded, and the temporary through to subtle neutrals.
CC1 will change daily. It will be a huge open studio complex, the art group will be making new work on the fly, working on large scale together, open to debate and cross-disciplinary influences.
The Contemporary Construction artists are open to the peril and excitement of creative risk-taking through working collectively in public.
The artists will be present daily, and actively welcome visitors. Times when artists will be in residence updated daily online. Artists’ tours and discussion groups available by appointment.
CC1 is a hybrid art event – a fusion of collective artists’ residency, open studio, live art, exhibition and participation.
