Better late than never, I thought I should write a final entry…

The residency is now officially finished and I am back in the UK. My cross country moving house was a success but there are still things in France and the rest of my belongings are in 3 different places in Bristol.

The last couple of days at L'H du Siege involved meeting more people and doing some adventuring around the North. I think this time gave me a little space to process and absorb what I had been making. Besides the drawing (which has now been stopped at 87 days) I have not been building any new work. Instead I have returned to the doom of applications and organising exhibitions – an essential part of an artist's practice but a part that sometimes really tests me.

I am really glad to have stopped the drawing at such an odd number. I was worried that the last picture would need to have some kind of conclusive important summary of my stay. But due to not being at L'H du Siege one evening, and also not having any paper or quill or ink at hand, the last sketch is just a doodle and holds no greater significance than any of the other drawings. I enjoy this balance and feel satisfied to have such a unique record of my time.

I will be doing an artist’s talk at Fabrica, in Brighton on Wednesday the 23rd of July about my time, work and experiences at L'H du Siege from 7pm to 8pm. Please see www.fabrica.org.uk for more details.

Also I am involved in a group exhibition entitled "Slow" at Edward Cullinan Architects, 1 Baldwin Terrace, N1 7RU, London (Tube: Angel or Old street) from the 26th to the 3rd of August. Hopefully I will be able to exhibit "Tout le monde est tres occuppe, je pense que nous devons aller pecher" as well as other work. The private view is on Friday the 25th between 6 and 10pm. Please view flyer for more details.
