Re-store is a site responsive project by 6plus2 culminating in an exhibition from 7‑21 June installed in the Wellington Hangar at Brooklands Museum to coincide with the Surrey Artists Open Studios fortnight.
The group is formed of eight artists who are interested in driving forward projects that bring a different perspective to familiar spaces.
Hilary Boardley, Richard Brayshaw, Roger Buchanan, Robyn Jacobs, Henny Lowden, Julia Menzies, Suzanne Pollen and Louise Tett practice in a diversity of mediums, including drawing, photography, painting, 3D, sound, moving image and performance.
The exhibition will focus on the historic Grade 2 Listed, Wellington Hangar prior to its planned dismantling, relocation and restoration during 2015-17 as part of the Brooklands Aircraft Factory & Race Track Revival Project. A range of new work will be presented within the space in response to its structure and contents. A theme of renewal and its many connotations will encompass ideas of restoration, decay and the fragility of existence within a site that bears testimony to the human impulse to preserve and immortalize the past
