Nottingham Trent Fine Art graduate Lauren O'Grady has an exhibiton at The Old Library in Mansfield opening on the 5th January until 13th February, private view January 10th 6-8pm all welcome. Through carefully constructed imagery and suspended models of outer space the artist explores the impossibility of her own ambitions. The science fictional nature of the work, out of an obsession with which it was born, the artist highlights the mass expanse between imagination and reality. With humour she attempts to create epic scenes only to fail to quite live up to her own expectations.Her life long dreams of being an astronaut thwarted by her fear of flying and claustophobia much like many of our dreams and ambitions can be just as easliy out of reach.
