Curated by UP Projects, PARK ART in Haringey forms part of Haringey Council’s cultural offer for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Commissions include Ben Long’s giant Lion Scaffolding Sculpture, a contemporary monument that references the sculptural archetype of the regal lion, and Martin Richman and Charlie Kerr’s light and sound installation that responds to the Tudor heritage of Hawk Tower. Both can be seen in Bruce Castle Park, Tottenham.

South of the borough, partner organisation Furtherfield has commissioned artist and composer Michael Szpakowski to work with local children and their families. The resulting immersive soundscape includes field recordings of children’s rhymes drawing on the memories of Haringey residents from all over the world. The work is audible during daylight hours in the area around Furtherfield Gallery at McKenzie Pavilion.

A series of events will take place for local residents living near to each venue. These include a talk by Ben Long and a series of workshops. See www.upprojects.com for more information.
