Taking Random Acts, a short-form, late-night arts strand on Channel 4, as its starting point, ‘Random Acts: Artist Interventions into Broadcast’ at FACT, Liverpool, this Friday will propose TV’s future as a socially engaged space where the medium is both subject and context. The one-day forum will also celebrate and launch twenty-five new artist commissions for the slot produced by FACT and curator Jacqui Davies. These include Marina Abramovic’s Dangerous Games, as well as works by Richard Billingham, Zineb Sedira and Sarah Wood who will take part in a panel discussion as part of the event.

Other speakers include: Tabitha Jackson, Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor for Arts, who will discuss the potential impacts and opportunities for artist interventions in broadcasting; Lucky PDF, an artist collective from South East London; and Chip Lord, co-founder of ’70s radical media collective Ant Farm.

The day will be punctuated by artists’ performances including Roney Fraser-Munro’s intervention that will attempt to create a DIY and punk aesthetic for the future of TV.
