Focusing on the notion of corporeal memory, the exhibition explores how shifting social codes and cultural values have been embodied in historical Western European art and architecture. Matt Stokes, Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool
For this exhibition the Beck’s Futures Prize winner will show a selection of his lyrical, elegiac films focusing on music subcultures. Part anthropology, part tribute and part collaboration, the films represent a range of historic and contemporary music scenes, including Northern Soul, ‘cave raves’ from the early 1990s and American punk in Austin, Texas.

Patrick Caulfield, Abbot Hall Gallery, Kendal
A simplified style combined with an astute commentary on modern life cast Patrick Caulfield as one of the originators of Pop Art in England. This exhibition explores Caulfield’s unique style, from his work inspired by Juan Gris, Georges Braque and Fernand Léger, to his subtle construction of the interior and engagement with the still life tradition.

Frances Richardson, Lubomirov–Easton, London
This exhibition is the result of a month-long residency at Lubomirov–Easton gallery in Deptford, and features what Richardson describes as a ‘sculptural drawing’ in the space. Richardson’s work addresses a preoccupation with how we relate to the physical world through haptic/sensory knowledge, sometimes imposing restrictions on the way viewers interact with spaces.

Sun Xun: Yesterday is Tomorrow, Hayward Gallery, London
Chinese artist Sun Xun’s work blurs the lines between art and animation by combining traditional materials and techniques with contemporary digital approaches. For this, the artist’s first solo show in a UK public institution, Sun has created a series of meticulously hand-drawn animations to create mesmerising films that carry a complex and underlying political narrative.
