SPAN, the US-based Social Practices Art Network, today launches the Together Survey that seeks to ask artists, internationally, how they are working, living, and funding their work. Northumberland-based, socially-engaged artists network dot to dot active arts is SPAN’s UK partner for this artist-led survey.
As a member-led organisation that ‘believe(s) passionately that the voice of independent artists is increasingly lost in the deafening din of arts and cultural policy and the clamour of big arts institutions,’ dot to dot is encouraging all socially engaged, participatory and community artists and arts professionals to take part in the survey.
The UK survey launches on the same day that it launches in the US, where SPAN is partnerning with the Open Engagement 2014 conference, an international conference that takes place in New York later this month. Said dot to dot: “This artist survey is incredibly important because it gives artists a chance to be heard and to make new international networks.”
