New a-n Executive Director Jeanie Scott has been talking about her excitement at taking on the role.
In a short video interview produced by a-n, she describes how she has been surrounded by art all her life – her parents’ were both practising artists – and that an organisation that represents artists “feels like home”.
Jeanie, who starts at a-n today (9 June) and will take over from current Director Susan Jones in September, joins a-n from Arts & Business Scotland. She was Head of Research and Development at the Edinburgh-based organisation.
“I’m very excited to be joining a-n,” she said. “The times in my career when I’ve been most engaged and most excited have been when I’ve been working with artists or arts organisations, and seeing the difference that any little bit of help or support can make – allowing or enabling either the organisation to flourish or the individual to be able to get to where they need to be with their work.”
Susan Jones said: “I am delighted to welcome Jeanie as Executive Director to succeed me in the autumn. She brings a rich combination of skills, experience and insight into a-n at a time of significant change in the arts ecology.”
The interview with Jeanie was filmed in Edinburgh at the studio space of the Totes Colo artists’ collective.
