Central to my work is a need to further my understanding of what makes us human, and I have been doing this by exploring our similarities across the world, from linguistics and psychology to mythology and religion. By looking at human nature and the psyche, and by attempting to communicate beneath the surface levels of language in my paintings, I have begun to create a sense of place and belonging that supersedes my immediate surroundings.
