FPS Unfixed
Free Painters and Sculptors is a membership organisation and charity that supports and promotes artists to develop work on their own terms. For this ‘impromptu exhibition’ curated by Sally Buchanan, it has uprooted from its usual base at the Menier Gallery in south London to the Espacio Gallery, Bethnal Green and presents works by Marco Alessi, Rachael Bailey, Camilla Bliss and Bruni Schling among others.

51zero Tour: The Other Side of Here
This cross-border collaboration between the Maison de l’Art et de la Communication in northern France and the Medway-based 51zero Festival brings together moving image works by international artists and emerging artists and students. Highlights of the three-day festival in the appropriately named town of Lens, France include a programme showcasing works nominated for the Film London Jarman Award, and screenings of work by students, alumni and lecturers from University for the Creative Arts and University of Kent.

Staring at the Sea: Contemporary Painting from Wales
Exhibited in an art deco pavilion on Penarth Pier, Staring at the Sea looks to highlight the exciting state of painting in south Wales today. Featured artists include: Jo Berry, Liam O’Connor, James Green, Christopher Holloway, Ifan Lewis, Catrin Llwyd, Samantha Lyle, Aidan Myers, Melanie Wotton and Ellie Young.

Jane Palm-Gold: Regeneration City Blues
Jane Palm-Gold lives in St Giles, central London, where many independent businesses, live music venues, cinemas and public houses have either been, or are earmarked to be, redeveloped. Her exhibition, Regeneration City Blues, focuses on some of the creative and culturally important places lost in the area over the last 30 years, documenting the history of Denmark Street – known as London’s ‘Tin Pan Alley’ – where music businesses are currently under threat from the Crossrail development.

Flo Brooks: Heaving the Lead
Flo Brooks presents new paintings and sculpture resulting from his research at the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, England’s national folk music and dance archive. Alongside his own works, which uncover the processes and everyday skills involved in the construction of folk costumes and props to reveal “the things people have made out of what [was] at hand”, the show also includes a selection of artefacts from the library.
