Hackney WickED, the artist-led festival in east London’s Hackney Wick, has announced the successful artists in its inaugural ACE-funded commissioning and bursaries scheme.
Artist and psychogeographer Laura Oldfield Ford, photographer Stephen Gill, and sculptor Daryl Brown have been awarded Artwork Realisation Commissions to create new, site-specific works in the area. The location of these works will be kept under wraps until the festival press night on Friday 1 August.
AAS – All Everywhere All The Time, Eloise Fornieles and Rosie Ridgeway have been awarded Roaming Artworks Commissions to create new performance works to be shown during the festival.
Dollyolli Studios, Dygoro Sasaki, Josephine Chime, Kirtland Ash, Linda Simmonds, Paul Abbott, ]performance s p a c e [, Rosie Emerson, Rossen Daskalov and Vittoria Wharf Collective have each been awarded £150 bursaries to support open studio events.
Hackney WickED Director Anna Maloney commented: “It’s fantastic that we have been successful in securing this funding to commission new work and support local artists for the 2014 festival and we hope to develop this relationship into the future with ACE. We were overwhelmed by the number of submissions and the standard was very high, which is a great problem to have.”
