Entitled Turquoise and feldspar, the exhibition is a bold, colourful collection of 21 abstract paintings. The title of the exhibition reflects two of the elements that regularly feature in Cherrie’s work: colour and geology.
Cherrie explained: “Colour is often the starting point for a piece of artwork; everything else flows from there. I enjoy experimenting with how different colours work together and the effects created – sometimes striking, sometimes more subtle. I want to create paintings that are stimulating and make the viewer want to take a closer look.”
Feldspar minerals are essential components in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Cherrie’s paintings often contain references to geology, which she studied at university, and seascapes observed during her frequent trips to Cornwall.
ImaGine is open from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Saturday. The exhibition closes on 6 August.
