We had a very enjoyable workshop today with 7 children from all the remote isles schools, 1 from Out Skerries, 1 from Foula, 2 from Fetlar, 3 from Fair Isle. The workshop was in Lerwick, Shetland Mainland, the children stay over for a few days and attend a sports day as well, these meetings happen 2 or 3 times a year. Growing up in London I find it fascinating to imagine what it must be like to experience early life in these remote environments, it is just what they know. They were a great group and very productive, interestingly they all made boat structures maybe because so much of their lives involves boats.
