Marinella Senatore, Mostyn, Llandudno
The work of Italian artist Marinella Senatore explores visitor participation and active engagement. ‘The School of Narrative Dance and Other Surprising Things’ is her first British solo show and includes RE:VERB, an installation consisting of seven videos that were made with the people of Llandudno during the artist’s residency in North Wales in 2015. Senatore has also put out an open call for contributions to ESTMAN RADIO, an ongoing ‘self-service’ online radio station which will eventually be housed in MOSTYN’s Gallery 3.
Until 17 September 2016. www.mostyn.org

Martin Creed, Hauser & Wirth, Bruton, Somerset
‘What You Find’ is a new solo show by Turner Prize winner Martin Creed, whose huge rotating neon sign, Understanding, was recently installed in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Featuring paintings, films, drawings, sculpture, music, spoken word and performance, the exhibition follows a recent residency in Bruton and will see some works created in-situ in Hauser & Wirth Somerset‘s five gallery spaces.
Until 11 September 2016. www.hauserwirthsomerset.com

Pablo Bronstein, Tate Britain, London
Martin Creed famously sent runners up and down Tate Britain’s Duveen Galleries and the latest artist to be commissioned for the space has followed a similarly active route. For ‘Historical Dances in an Antique Setting’, Pablo Bronstein – whose satirical performances fuse modern and historic elements – here choreographs a continuous dance piece which sees dancers moving through the galleries in a theatrical, Baroque-style, interacting with the building’s architectural elements as the work evolves over its six month run.
Until 9 October 2016. www.tate.org.uk

Maria Lassnig, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool
Austrian artist Maria Lassnig (1919-2014) is known for her unnerving portraits and this is the first UK retrospective of her work. Featuring 40 large-scale paintings that address the fragility of the body, the ageing process and the passing of time – with Lassnig often the subject of her own work – the exhibition spans her career, from work made during the 1940s in Vienna, periods spent in Paris and New York, her return to Austria in 1980, and paintings made in the latter part of her life.
Until 18 September 2016. www.tate.org.uk

Alberto Giacometti, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich
This bumper exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of Alberto Giacometti’s death and features over 100 works in a variety of media including sculpture, painting, works on paper, photography, film and archival material. It explores his influence on British art, including work by artists such as Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Henry Moore, William Turnbull, Eduardo Paolozzi, Frank Auerbach, Elisabeth Frink and Isabel Rawsthorne.
