Might & Main is a project exploring the mechanisms and celebrating the outputs of the artist led- researching the importance of place and space to artistic production from Manchester city centre artist led studio and project space The Penthouse.
At the centre of Might and Main are artist residencies taking place at The Penthouse project space. The selected artists who have been working on a residency project taking into consideration the situation of The Penthouse are:
Vicky Clarke
Rowan Eastwood
Chloé Loric
Phil Constable
These artists are working alongside artists and directors Rosanne Robertson and Debbie Sharp to explore the situation of The Penthouse- this can be geographically, architecturally, physically, culturally, politically or otherwise. Artists are encouraged to explore the geographic environment of The Penthouse- looking outward past the rooftops into the city beyond our walls.
Artists have responded to this project with works such as architecturally influenced speaker design and sound installation to light interventions, ready made sculpture, process led installations and parasite influenced video works. The open studio will present a diverse response to the situation of The Penthouse installed in this unique and unusual city centre tower block penthouse space.

Access: The Penthouse is situated on the top floor of Hilton House on Hilton Street in the Northern Quarter. Access is via stepless double doors at gorund level with access via a portable ramp up three steps and then a lift to the 5th floor. There is an accessible bathroom via the lift on the 2nd floor of Hilton House.
