This exhibition is the largest collection of Cumbrian potters and ceramicists that has ever been put together. It will be representative of almost all the professional potters in Cumbria today, many with national and international reputations and also include work by some of the newest ceramicists in the County. To date there are over 45 confirmed participants whose work ranges from sculptural to domestic pottery. The exhibition will run from the 22nd November to the 8th January. The preview will be on the 22nd November and include a fund raising event (empty bowls donated by the potters to be filled with either soup or sweet and a silent auction of donated pots/ceramics) in aid of Mary’s Meals. Local band The Misdemeanours, which includes Gwen Bainbridge one of the exhibitors, will be playing live during the evening.
Among the potters represented are – Jim Malone, Paul Scott, Roger Lewis, Bob Park, Alison Ogden, Maggie Angus Berkowitz, Alvin Irving, Rebecca Callis, Syl Macro, Mary Chapplehow, Gwen Bainbridge, and John Kershaw.
It is hoped that this exhibition will become an annual event showcasing the many talented Cumbrian ceramic artists.
