Brighouse Festival: Rubbish Brighouse
Yorkshire-born artist Chris Jackson will be in residence at Brighouse throughout the Arts Festival and welcomes visitors to his temporary studio at Brighouse Town Hall.
Using dried pasta and cardboard he creates sculptures which explore contemporary ideas within a world of architectural fantasy. Adults and supervised children are encouraged to come along with their own Brighouse memories, thoughts and stories which will then be transformed into a spectacular display made from discarded materials and rubbish. Everything from medieval legends of Robin Hood’s Grave and the fiendish hound Guytrash to their latest critical views on The Ritz Ballroom’s current acts will be included.
Small discarded objects and items from the local area are also gratefully accepted and will – over the festival week – help to form part of ‘Rubbish Brighouse!’ – a new, miniature version of the town for everyone to enjoy.
Studio is open to visitors: Saturday 22nd – Thursday 27th October, 10am – 12:30pm daily.
Closing event to view and discuss the finished installation: Saturday 29th October, 2-4pm.
