a-n to go on tour with Assembly events in Margate, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Leeds

This May and June a-n will be delivering five Assembly events at locations across England in Margate, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Leeds.

The sessions will take place over two days, pulling together speakers and training on a range of subjects. These will be complemented by artist-led tours, artists’ meals, and opportunities for networking and conversation with fellow artists and the a-n team.

Each event is made up of separate activities with attendees able to choose what they’d like to take part in rather than having to commit to the whole two days.

Artists are the focus of the sessions, with a programme devised in partnership with local practitioners and artist-focused host organisations. This collaborative approach has been taken to ensure regional resonance, with a programme relevant to the hosts’ networks, and support for the work they are already doing with their members or local artist communities.

a-n are working in collaboration with Dan Thompson in Margate, Kevin Hunt in Liverpool, Julie McCalden in Bristol, Catherine Bertola in Newcastle and East Street Arts in Leeds.

Jeanie Scott, a-n director, said: “We’ve grown a lot in the last three years – our membership has just topped 21,500 – so we want to make sure we’re still having the variety of conversations we need to, to know we’re properly representing our members and still devising the support they need.

“Assembly is just one way to do that and at the end of the day we’re a network of people, so it’s important to create opportunities for us to get together.”
