Ephemeral Coast
Ephemeral Coast is an international curatorial research project led by Celina Jeffery, bringing together artists, writers and climate change experts to explore how curating can advance consideration of coastal climate change. The Welsh coast is explored in Swansea-based artist Adele Vye’s video Attempts above and below sea level: Drift factor. Filmed during Storm Doris, the work features interaction with dunes at Sandfields council estate in Port Talbot, where the artist grew up.

Shells
An exhibition of two interweaving film installations by artist James Paddock, exploring and celebrating a uniqueness for people living with mental health conditions. The first work entitled Blinds, featuring actress Hattie Gotobed of Game of Thrones fame, presents footage of a young girl and an older man as they debate the existence of their own ‘shells’. The second installation, Nets, is a more direct exploration of the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Kally Laurence: New Paintings
Painter Kally Laurence presents a “joyous body of work” that marks a return to her printmaking routes. Having worked in the up-cycle fashion and textile business the artist finds herself drawn to pattern and repetition and these new compositions, which draw from the observation of such detail in everyday life, take unique inspiration from a recent trip to India.

Inside The Shadow
A group exhibition of work by seven artists exploring the concept of ‘inside’, within a preoccupation of looking deeply into shadows that disrupt light, space and time. Curated by Katherine Lubar and Asaki Kan, whose work joins that of Joan Alexander, Fiona Grady, Lyndsey Gilmour, Chris Marshall and Stig Marlon Weston.

A Summer of Love
Marking the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in San Francisco, University of Portsmouth’s Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries invited students to submit proposals as part of their ongoing exhibition programme at Portsmouth Guildhall. Selected MA Illustration student Caroline Misselbrook presents a series of works featuring birds; inspired by her father’s egg collection, which he started as a child in the 50s during walks in the Westwood Local Nature Reserve.
