Peter Marigold designs and makes furniture and works increasingly in the public realm. In his work, Marigold is interested in exploring the natural processes and chemical reactions that transform the surface of materials over time. As a habitual collector, Peter’s work is often also concerned with storage and the display of objects.
This is an opportunity to hear Peter talk about his past work, career and working processes. Peter has been commissioned by a group including local residents to create a public artwork linked to the new Community Hub at Mulberry Park in Bath. Peter will work with the local community in Foxhill and Combe Down to research, design and create an artwork specific to its setting at Mulberry Park.
Local residents are encouraged to attend, but others are also welcome.

Artist biography:
Peter Marigold (b.1974) is an artist and designer/maker based in London. He has become known for his innovative furniture designs in wood but works across many other materials including metal, plaster and Jesmonite.
Peter studied Sculpture at Central St Martins in London, and worked in theatrical and event scenography for a time before studying for the Product Design MA at the Royal College of Art, where he was taught by the industrial designer Ron Arad.
He has shown work at The Design Museum, Museum of Modern Art in New York and also exhibits regularly at Milan Furniture Fair and Design Miami. His commissions include a display system for Paul Smith, a reception desk for the Victoria & Albert Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green and an ongoing collaboration with furniture company SCP. Peter is currently working on a major public commission for Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children as part of a therapeutic design programme.
Peter also teaches on the BA Furniture course at London Metropolitan University where he leads the Harvest studio.
The designer was recently shortlisted for the £10k Woman’s Hour Craft Prize and his work will feature in an exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London from 7 September 2017 – 5 /February 2018.
