I have moved into a bigger studio space – upstairs from where I was before, turning the project space into my own working space. I wasn’t getting much financial return on the space as a project space so I thought I might as well make more/better use of it. This means there is space for a couple more artists downstairs.
However, I still have a presence downstairs as the collective/social aspect of the shared studio is really important to us all.
If progress over the year is measurable then by the end of the year I would like to have a more-focused set of research concerns and/or bring my work closer to my research concerns which currently and very broadly relate to the Homi Bhabha’s ideas about the third space and also to heterotopian spaces and movement through spaces/places.
The image below was taken during the Folkestone Triennial 2017 and I like the juxtaposition of car park, walkway and beach.
