Title: ‘Rooftops and Archways’ by Susie Ramsay
Dates: Tuesday 10th April – Friday 13th April 2018, 10am-6pm
Where: The Vestibules (entrance nearest to the bottom of Park Street), City Hall, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TR.
Overview:
In partnership with ArtSpace LifeSpace, Bristol based fine artist Susie Ramsay presents a new collection of paintings in her solo exhibition ‘Rooftops and Archways’. The exhibition comes to The Vestibules after recently being on display at the Christmas Steps Gallery, Bristol.
Susie’s continues her focus on Bristol’s architectural landscapes. Visitors will be able to view ten new paintings of the city, including Arnos Vale Cemetary, Colston Street, Bird Cage Walk, Hotwells and Cliftonwood.
Building upon her ‘Streets, Lanes and Skylines’ (2016) exhibition, Susie presents a collection of work that captures the cities viewpoints and hidden corners. Contrasting rooftops against the sky, warehouses lining the Harbourside, churches and alleyways, each painting provides a fresh perspective of the city.
About the exhibition, Susie said: “The aim of my new work is to present a bold and contemporary vision of Bristol. This collection presents a freer series of paintings than previous exhibitions, capturing the spirit and vibrancy of the city. My work is inspired by how the natural world impacts on our built environment. How a change in light, weather or season can transform our daily city landscape. ‘Rooftops and Archways’ is about revealing the hidden parts of Bristol and presenting the city in a new light”.
Susie will be present at the exhibition throughout the week to discuss the work and future projects.
Limited edition prints and cards will be available to purchase from the exhibition.

- The exhibition is free and will be open daily from 10-6pm.

- The Vestibules venue: Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, has opened two brand new art spaces at City Hall to showcase Bristol talent and give cultural and community groups unique environments to display their work. The new spaces sit within City Hall’s vestibules; former entrances located at either end of the building. They will be used to provide space for groups to share their projects and ideas through exhibitions, performances, cinemas and pop up art markets.
- Bristol City Council’s Arts Development Team have joined up with local charity and art space experts Artspace Lifespace (ASLS) to support Bristol’s vibrant art and cultural sector by providing an innovative and creative space for groups to share their projects and ideas.
