Opening Doors
Artists Melanie Thompson and Helen Ottaway present an evening of film, sound installation and talks about two recent experiences that offer an insight into making site-specific work. Thompson presents the solo performances and film about drowning that she developed in Aarhus, Denmark following an invitation to collaborate with Teatre Refleksion. Ottaway discusses drawing music on a beach and a magical music box, developed during six weeks at the Sura Medura International Artists Residency in Sri Lanka.

The Clydach Gorge Collaboration Show
Three artists and two poets respond to the roadworks on the A465 along Clydach Gorge and the changes this has brought to the area. This collaboration investigating the culture, history and geology of the site has been initiated by Dr Allison Neal whose paintings respond to this changing landscape. She will be exhibiting alongside moving image and interactive works from Liz Morison and paintings and etchings from Catherine Wynne-Paton. From 12-1pm, poets Ann Drysdale and Ric Hool will be giving stand-up performances and readings.

I want you to feel the weight of my loss…
‘I want you to feel the weight of my loss…. or is it the weight of my freedom?’ writes artist Joana Cifre Cerdà, whose opening night performance and exhibition convey her multitude of emotions following a recent hysterectomy ‘through the making of sculptures that weigh exactly the same as the uterus…’.

Brief Encounters
Eight artists have undertaken mini art-science residencies at The University of Leicester for British Science Week. This exhibition presents the outcomes from encounters between jeweller Kate Bajic, artists Amica Dickson, Graham Ensor, Kathryn Parsons and Mita Solanky, illustrator Phil Hackett, textile artist Ruth Singer, sound artist Lucy Stevens and seven scientists from research departments ranging from Genetics and Genome Biology to the Space Research Centre.

Litmus Sharing Event
Artists AJ Stockwell, Neasa Terry and Paul Eastwood deliver presentations about their commissions for the Oriel Davies Litmus programme. The day-long event marks the end of 12 months of activity that has seen five artists develop new works in the gallery’s project space. The day’s conversations will include discussion around the future of this programme, examining what early-career artists want and need in Wales, and how artists’ networks can become connected.
