Julia Keenan
As part of her Aspex Artist Associates (AAA) residency at Aspex Gallery, Julia Keenan with be spending two weeks developing her new body of work, ‘Everything is a Maquette’, which follows the idea ‘that everything which has gone before, has led to where you are now’. Fittingly, Keenan’s residency is the final in this series of five AAA residencies that have been taking place at the space since February.

Peles Empire (Katharina Stoever and Barbara Wolff), who featured in last year’s Skulptur Projecte Münster, have conceived of and exhibit in this group exhibition, alongside artists Andrew Mealor, Christian Andersen and David Renggli. This collaborative exhibition is a conversation between the artists’ works, with sculptures by Mealor, Andersen and Renglli sited on three large carpets by Peles Empire, which are two-dimensional prints of an existing three-dimensional sculpture. The private view is on 31 May, 7-10pm.

The Mineral Body: Geologies of Resistance
The next session in feminist study group wrkwrkwrk’s open programme is a session led by artist Rowan Lear that explores ‘nonhuman agencies and stony resistance’ through a series of four texts, chapters and passages: ‘Being Taken for Granite’ by Ursula K Le Guin, ‘Love and Strife’ by Jeffrey Jerome Cohen, ‘Stones Matter’ by Sara Ahmed and ‘A Lichenous Embrace’ by Amelia Groom.

Passen-gers | Publication Launch
The site-specific exhibition series ‘Passen-gers’, which is hosted by Gauld Architecture in the iconic and modernist Brunswick Centre, launches a publication that documents its inaugural programme of exhibitions, talks and site-responsive projects. Featuring specially commissioned essays by Rory Olcayto, Timothy Dixon, Farrah Jarral, Paul Carey-Kent, Rory O’Connor and Francesca Girelli, and photographs of the Brunswick Centre past and present.

Eoin Dara curates this solo exhibition of works by artist Leontios Toumpouris, whose wall-based ceramic and leather forms are suggestive of new bodies coming forth into the world. This tribe of artworks are an exploration of the physical qualities of materials and ancient alchemical processes.
