Contemporary Artworks by re:collect artists Keith Ashford, Jacqui Dodds, Julie Edwards, Jill Impey and Elizabeth Turner, commemorating the centenary of WW1. Installed in the beautiful surrounds of Jackfield Tile Museum, as part of Shropshier Council's Wilfred Owen100 programme.
I am a freelance artist working in film, printmaking, installation and participatory practice. I studied Textile Design at Bradford University, and subsequently co-founded design and print Co-operative Pinkfish. Later I worked in Further and Adult Education teaching English to Speakers of other Languages, in Leicester and Art & Design, at Shrewsbury College, while developing my own practice through an MA in Fine Art, at Staffordshire University.
Co-founder and director of Participate Contemporary Artspace CIC, in Shrewsbury, I have focused on outreach, developing Participate’s Summer Artschool, and I am an Arts award assessor.
My current work, The Beat of the Butterflies’ Wings (2016-19) is an inter-generational project, supported by Arts Council, England, that reflects on lessons to be learnt from nature and the importance of self-expression, initiating a conversation about peace. I am also a member of re:collect; artists using contemporary art in a heritage context.
I am interested in how creativity, communication and our connection with the natural world affect mental health and wellbeing. I am a Reiki and Shiatsu practitioner, which helps to provide a channel for communication inviting playfulness and sharing, through creative practice.
