'Pressed' is a collection of printed works produced from a place of fantasy and whimsey. The pieces are all monoprints which are quite large and which have been built from layers of both printed and drawn material. Figures occupy printed abstracted landscapes in curios and poetic ways inviting a viewer to make some kind of visual sense of the abstractions – a sense that is both charming and sometimes illusive. This collection of work explores the notion of an 'aside' or the idea that perhaps, in the very act of pressing a plate in a press and transferring ink to paper that some kind of alternative world is created within that printed surface. A window into another way to see, it offers a space of freedom, of allowable fantasy, which has no rules and which we can explore however we want. As a result, 'Pressed' offers an interesting visual treat that I hope viewers will enjoy. Large works of tiny moments. Printmaking, drawing. Curious… fantastical. Come and smile.
