In this free public exhibition the Reading-based artist Robert Fitzmaurice and London-based sculptor and architect James Dunnett present new work where the human figure dominates. Dunnett’s stone carvings involve the play of light over planar forms while Fitzmaurice’s work includes references to votive art from both Europe and Asia.
Visitors will be invited to contrast and compare these approaches with Stanley Spencer’s celebrated wall-paintings of World War I in the chapel, which is a National Trust property, where the human figure, the human condition and belief are depicted.
