Whoops!

This blog post seems to have become detached from it's parent blog!

The initial thoughts of the proposed show:

House, synonymous to home. The idea is that the house and the home is a safe place. It’s seen as a personal or intrapersonal place, but it could be extended to sociopolitical matters belonging as a collective home. Is the home a safe place?

I thought of the working title of Un heimlich for this exhibition. Based on unheimlich meaning unhomely. Heimlich therefore means homely. Un heimlich works out as ‘a home’ and should be something comforting – but because the un is in front of heimlich, it could mean the uncanny and something unwelcoming, which leaves an open ended question of whether the house is safe or not. However I’m not going to use the title because heimlich has connotations to a first aid manoeuvre. I don’t want it to affect the reading of the show based on that particular connotation.
