Whoops!

This blog post seems to have become detached from it's parent blog!

I printed the architectural layouts of Birmingham School of Arts on pieces of a4 paper. I then cut the shapes out and dropped them normally. Then I changed the routine slightly by 1. folding a piece 2. scrunching 2 pieces.

I liked the shadows created from the slightly 3D shapes of paper. So I think the type of lighting is an important factor in drawing out aspects of the material. I think that the folded paper would be interesting in the form of a metal sheet. I’ve also noticed the sound that the materials make as I drop them onto the floor. For example the scrunched up paper and the folder paper make a louder sound when it contacts the floor, and the unfolded/un scrunched paper has a scratch sound when it scrapes past the flooring. For future works I could consider recording the sound of items dropping onto the floor.
