I will be utilising this opportunity to start a conversation regarding Black, Asian, and other Ethnic Minority communities’ sense of belonging, climate change, and understanding of the New Forest. I would like to use the residency to create a series called We belong here that will consist of portrait and landscape photographs that will provide a nuanced visual representation of how Black, Asian, and other Ethnic Minority* communities feel about the New Forest.
I am seeking to work with 2 to 4 people, including those who identify as male, female or non-binary from Black, Asian, or Ethnic Minority backgrounds (including those of Mixed Heritage) who are aged from 18 years old and above who are based in New Forest or Hampshire.
The photographs will be reflecting upon the diversity and richness of the New Forest as well as providing an interruption of your relationship with the landscape. It would be great if you were to reflect upon how your identity, climate change affect your engagement with the landscape of New Forest.
The photographs will be shown as part of an exhibition at spudWORKS in October. All participants will be asked to sign a model release and project participation form.
