Join us, for an evening where we will present thoughts, pictures, performance, video, poems, music, or stories responding to the refugee crises… What can we do when we can’t do anything? Pieces for Peace.
Seafair is back with another online sharing event. After a wonderful evening back in November 2020 ‘Old Vessels New Recipes’ raising money for Bridport Refugee Support Campaign, we are now organising another event. This time raising money for locally placed refugees from Ukraine (Bridport & Lyme Regis).
The organisations supporting these people and their hosts are just emerging – there is currently a drop-in group for people who opened their homes for Ukrainian refugees, who are meeting fortnightly at the Black Dog Cafe in Uplyme and there will be a Bridport group soon, which will be meeting at the Friends Meeting House.
We want to support these organisations and the people they are supporting directly. We will work with these newly emerging support groups and share the money we raise with them. Families need support as soon as they arrive, before bank accounts have been set up and before benefits can be put in place.
Get your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/what-we-can-do-when-we-cant-do-anything-pieces-for-peace-tickets-322087551537 We will send ticketholders a zoom link nearer the event.
If you would like to present something at the event, please let us know when you get your ticket. Each person will get up to 5 minutes to present their work. We are hoping for 12 presenters and a maximum of 30 people at the event as a whole.
We also hope to raise some more money by selling some of the work presented alongside other works offered by artists after the event. More information about this on the night.
