‘Sister Octopi’ is the result of a 4 year old artistic correspondance between Justine Formentelli based in Brixton and her cousin and designer Natalya Konforti living in Dubai. Celebrating Sisterhood and the strength and resilience of women in times of crisis, it will open just in time for Women’s International day.
Inspired by their family history, the natural world and their life-long experience of expatriation, their project is also an exploration of grief, belonging and identity. This very rich and layered artistic collaboration takes the form of an immersive installation of suspended scrolls which transports visitors into an intriguing and colourful world.
On Saturday March 11th, the two artists will host a printing workshop and an informal talk in relation to the exhibition at the Omnibus Theater between 11am and 1pm.
