Gasping for Air by Jo Pearl is an investigation of what it looks and feels like to struggle for breath in air pollution. This installation combines ceramic sculptures and clay stop frame animation to make visible the invisible problem of air pollution and air bourne particulate matter. Rainham, is downwind of the industrial zone of Dagenham, and has some of the poorest air quality in Greater London. This month-long show, and opening clay public engagement event is designed to connect with the local community about the human cost of this invisible problem.
