Kate Corder is a multi-disciplined artist who studied for a MFA (2006) at University of Reading followed by a PhD in Art (2014) focusing on cultivated plant based material.
Living close to the Thames and Kennet Rivers in Reading, the river and its wildlife inhabitants, particularly swans, echo a previous theme, which Kate’s artwork explored when she was at Winchester Art School working in a studio overlooking the River Itchen and Water Meadows. Kate’s artwork can have symbolic, mythical, lyrical, ecological and environmental elements. While walking and traveling along the river as part of everyday journeying Kate records mobile phone video glimpses and observations. Kate Corder’s exhibition “River Willow Wild Life” is a combination of film and photography work, drawings, oil and watercolour paintings and includes a collaborative sound work performed by art research group, Sensingsite.
