AC Larsen (b. 1994) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer based in London. With a practice that spans sculpture, installation, text-based work and poetry, Larsen’s work is rooted in exploring queer, trans embodiment, within the context of contemporary Britain. Drawing heavily from pop culture, fashion and advertising sloganing, Larsen’s work aims to draw attention to attendant politics and the often insidious power relations that flow through British institutions and class structures. A central part of their practice is an interest in the materiality of objects and language, with many of their pieces exploring how the juxtaposition of specific materials and the re-contextualisation of objects can evoke and challenge specific discourses or upheld beliefs. Notable recent exhibitions include: New Contemporaries (2024); Working Space, Hypha Studios (2024); Metamorphosis, Stanley Picker Gallery (2023); Toughness & Tenderness, Bermondsey Project Space (2023); Queer Art(ists) Now, Space Station Sixty-Five (2022).
