Derbyshire Open Arts is a free and informal event, aimed at bringing the public into contact with artists and makers of fine crafts countywide. We are a non-profit making organisation run by artists for artists. There are over 150 members showing their work right across the county in 107 venues, starting Spring Bank Holiday 23th May and running through to and including the 25th May 2008. Venues vary from church halls to studios to artists’ own home front rooms, and refreshments are sometimes available too! This is a chance to find out what inspires artists, see how they go about their work and find out why they do what they do! The event makes for great days out touring around the county – as shown by the artists’ venues map in our brochures. There are many types of art and crafts on show from jewellery, calligraphy, paintings, drawings, fine woodworking through to textile works, mixed media and mosaics. This is the fourth year of the event in Derbyshire. Free brochures are available county wide in all libraries, tourist Information centres or from the Organiser – telephone 07986 594452. Information and brochures are also available on our website: www.derbyshireopenarts.co.uk
