Viewing single post of blog goldsmiths

i didnt realise that it had been a week since the last blog. wow. we cleared the studio spaces on friday, which was good as it was a 5th floor team thing, a team thing for those who showed up. the crew started to take down and by sunday were putting up walls. then it went a bit slow on our floor, mine were up yesterday, so in not wanting to waste time me and my1styr helper have already cleaned the windows. monday afternoon i went to the a-n info thing at iniva, which was helpful and interesting tho i did not have a head to take in much info, my bag is full of leaflets instead. i did the talk on departure and reflection in my practice in the evening. i really do not like speaking to large numbers, even if they look friendly, and it sounded from where i was sitting as an awfully wobbly voiced meandering waffle. i did hear the points i wanted to say be said but i was surprised it sounded so bad, to me, specially after getting used to, and over the goldsmith convenor presentations thing. anyways i had interesting conversations before heading for the bus and have new faces to remember. yesterday was nonstop. we had an early app at the hospital with the finger, where they decided to clean under the nail as it was a bit oozy and lifted off the scabby end, much to the horror of my son who went pale and had to lie down. anyways, apparently , to them, it looks good. ive got to dress it everyother day and we go back in another week. not looking forward to thurs. took him into school for revision/exam and me to new cross. my big sheet of zinc had arrived so it was v.exciting for a bit. we, ben really, made a frame for it to sit on. we, ben, cut the sheet 3ftx6ft and we, we bent it around the frame. with the help of passing crew, a board trolley and my1styr helper we got it over to the main building and into print dept. did a bit to my plinths in woodwork too, and some filling of my walls. then went to town coz my lovely boyfriend had got tickets to see the tiger lillies, fantastically surreal songs about children having fatal accidents. was relieved to get home to find that mine had not had any mishaps. i slept well for the first time in weeks. going to hide in etching today with my zinc.
