JUMP 2 DE-Light, by artist Shaeron Averbuch, is based on proactive research and analysis. JUMP the acronym for Joined Up Master Planning, sets the exhibition theme -a contextual response to the Edinburgh waterfront regeneration. A series of ideas and social commentaries are threaded together. Broadly speaking there are three main themes Birds, Contemporary Culture and issues relating to Planning. A Flea, (plague flea Xenopsylla Cheopis), cartoon charachters, Superman the flying super hero and Calimero, a little black chick whose catch slogan cries out, “it’s an injustice, it is!”, an Albatross and a Phoenix are all protaginists. An unbelievable cast for a deadly serious comment on life today. A series of interventions are set in and around The Lighthouse with the main body of work exhibited inside gallerA1 on the fist floor of the building and with access into the lantern area for those with the inclination to climb and gain the birds eye view of Granton’s regeneration. This exhibition is running as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival Programme 2009, refer to venue 14, page 19 of EAF essential guide. www.edinburghartfestival.com/09-festival-programme/gallera1-the-lighthouse-jump-2-de-light/
