A Fleeting Innocence is a series of large-scale back lit images taken in my childhood home of Guernsey. All of the images were shot during the fleeting moments of late Summer last year. They convey not only the transition from Summer to Autumn but my own transition from childhood to adulthood as I entered a new stage of my life moving from Guernsey to London. Motifs of childhood such as rope swings, encapsulated within the light boxes hark back to the halcyon days of an idyllic childhood, while tinged with an air of foreboding at the prospect of imminent change. The series, funded by Guernsey Arts Commission, has recently been exhibited at Centre Fold Gallery, Guernsey. Reflecting my move to East London, this work will now be shown in three shows as part of East London Photomonth 2009.A Fleeting Innocence will also be showing alongside photographer Stuart Leech’s series ‘Skimming Stones’ in a joint exhibition entitled ‘Recollection’ at Chrisp Street and WhitechapelIdea Stores in November.
