Carlisle Cathedral plays host to ‘Inscape’ a series of new works from Glasgow based artist James Murphy. Taking Carlisle Cathedral and Precinct as my point of departure i have developed a series of mixed media on paper in which my concern is to investigate and articulate the notion of space. My engagement with the Cathedral through observation and drawing references both the physical and contemplative characteristics experienced in terms of memories and emotions, not just stone and mortar.
